Concerts

Concerts are organized with a collaboration between music composers and dancers. You can discover how this is planned and brought together by our experts here on this page.

Lectures and Master Classes

A two-week intensive session to study music composition and reside in a creative atmosphere with a wide variety of offerings. Lectures and master classes with the area’s finest composers and musicians, and choreographers.

Visit the Composers and Performers pages to learn more about the guest artists for 2012.

Participants will reside in a luxurious estate with a private beach on Lake Wylie at Snug Harbor. Meals & transportation included (also onsite: kayaks, heated pool, billiards, etc...).

The highlights of the workshop will be the public performances for each participant’s new work(s) during the 3 concerts. (Pieces up to 12 minutes each)

Concert Piece: In this workshop, the focus will be composing music for String Quartet, Guitar, or Piano. The concert piece should be submitted by May 1, 2012. Guest composers and performers will provide you with valuable feedback in composition workshops & master classes. In addition, you will also have the opportunity to rehearse with the performers for the concert.

Workshop Piece: At the time of the workshop, you are encouraged to bring a second work-in-progress for the performers to read through and critique in a workshop setting. In private composition lessons, the composers-in-residence will help you develop your drafts.

Dance choreography & Composition Collaboration:

You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a choreographer and compose a piece for piano or string quartet to accompany dance. Learn how to work with dance and choreography. The new music & dance concert will take place on Sunday, June 24.
